Blume's History
Despite the fact that Blume has been acting on the steel market for decades, there has always been a constant - our good company name. Blume has established a brand name itself that nowadays stands for great competence in steel flat products.
| 1955 | Walter Blume founds the "Walter Blume GmbH Eisengrosshandlung" based in Stuttgart. |
| 1964 | Opening of the branches in Frankfurt, Ludwigshafen, Muelheim, Muenchen and Weidenau as well as the Profiling Center Stuttgart. |
| 1966 | Opening of the branches in Dortmund and Lebach/Saar |
| 1970 | Opening of the branch in Hamburg |
| 1977 | The "Walter Blume GmbH" becomes part of British Steel and changes its name to "British Steel - Walter Blume Handels GmbH" based in Stuttgart. |
| 1984 | Merger with the "Württembergische Schrottgesellschaft mbH" |
| 1986 | Blume changes its firm name into "Walter Blume GmbH". Business activities expand into the direction of steel processings. |
| 1988 | Take-over of the companies "Vereinigte Eisenhandlungen Zahn & Cie." and "Friedrich Nopper, Zweigniederlassung Stahlhandel Zuffenhausen" and continuation of their businesses under the name of our branch in Stuttgart |
| 1991 | The branch in Lebach/Saar is being relocated to Saarbruecken |
| 1992 | Opening of the branch in Zwickau |
| 1994 | Our place of business is relocated to Duesseldorf. Blume keeps its brand name and signs with the firm name "British Steel Blume GmbH". |
| 1999 | British Steel merges with Koninklijke Hoogovens of the Netherlands and creates one of the largest steel producers in the world - the Corus plc. based in London/GB |
| 2000 | Blume changes its firm name into "Blume Stahlservice GmbH". |
| 2003 | Place of business is relocated from Duesseldorf to Muelheim. |
| 2004 | Opening of the first foreign branch in Zabrze / Poland. |
| 2005 | Our foreign branch in Zabrze / Poland transforms into a private limited company (Ltd.). The place of business is relocated from Zabrze to Gliwice and also includes warehousing. |
| 2007 | Corus merges with Tata Steel and creates the 6th largest steel producer in the world. |
| 2009 | Our foreign branch in Poland is relocated from Gliwice to Sosnowiec. |
| 2010 | Opening of the sales office in Regensburg |
| 2010 | Rebranding of Corus in Tata Steel Europe |
